San Francisco Oral Surgeon, Dr. Rebeka Silva

My name is Dr. Rebeka Silva. I was born and raised in New York City. I’m a Board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who received my undergraduate degree in Biology from Syracuse University in New York and my Doctorate in Dental Surgery degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey in 1983. I did a hospital-based dental internship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and my surgery residency at Mt Sinai Medical Center, both in New York City. For several years I was part of a busy oral surgery private practice in Queens, New York. In 1992, I moved to the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area with my family. Shortly afterwards, I joined the UCSF Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery as an Assistant Clinical Professor and accepted a full-time position at the VA Medical Center, a UCSF-affiliated institution. I began as the VA’s full-time oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and later was promoted to be the Chief of Dental Services as well. I joined Dr. Tom in Bay Area Oral and Facial Surgeons part-time in 2002, while still maintaining my practice at the VA Medical Center. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and am also very active in the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology. I am a certified CPR instructor and have certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. I am also a certified general anesthesia examiner for Dental Board of California.

I have devoted my professional career to all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including education and research. In my clinical practice, I have a special interest in implant surgery, dentoalveolar surgery (wisdom teeth and other extractions), pre-prosthetic surgery, and TMJ disorders. To keep abreast of the latest developments in oral and maxillofacial surgery, I am active in residency education through my role as the Site Residency Training Director for oral and maxillofacial residents at the VA Medical Center. I have always exceeded the continuing education requirements of California. Because I am fluent in Spanish, I enjoy treating a wide variety of patients from all over the Bay Area. I am honored to be able to bring high-quality healthcare to all my patients.

My hobbies include gardening and cooking and my husband and I have a terrific daughter.
